The SideStepper is a high-performance Analog Stereo Gater/Ducker featuring a built-in Step Sequencer. It bridges the gap between legendary analog razor sharp gating or pumping ducking and modern rhythmic complexity by using STEREO custom-sequenced rhythmic patterns.
Stereo Pattern Sequencing
Take total command of your stereo image with the integrated digital step sequencer. Unlike standard duckers, this module allows you to program custom patterns that drive the all-analog ducking and gating circuits. With the ability to set pattern lengths anywhere from 1 to 16 steps, you can easily create complex polyrhythmic textures when layered against standard time signatures. Combined with per-step length control, shuffle, and a built-in randomizer, your rhythmic possibilities are virtually limitless.
Analog Discrete VCA
Experience the warmth and headroom of a fully analog VCA circuit. Whether you are "pumping" a synth pad or gating a noise floor, the module offers precise control via dedicated Attack, Decay, Threshold, and Depth knobs. You can choose to trigger the circuit via the internal sequencer, use an external analog sidechain signal or use the main audio itself. The external input features an integrated filter, allowing the module to react exclusively to specific frequencies; like the punch of a kick drum or the snap of a snare.
Pro Sync an Routing
Designed for the modern studio and the stage, the module stays perfectly in time via MIDI or Audio PPQN sync. For more reactive performances, the sequencer can be set to "One-Shot" mode, triggering a single cycle only when an incoming audio signal hits your defined threshold. Finally, the unique Mix function lets you sum the sidechain trigger and the main audio at the output, offering a quick way to check your timing or create layered, rhythmic soundscapes.

Gater / Ducker Section:
Stereo Analog discrete FET-controlled and FET based VCA amp.
Knobs
- Threshold: Determines the input level at which the gate opens or the ducker begins to attenuate the signal.
- Depth: Sets the maximum amount of gain reduction applied, ranging from subtle movement to complete silence.
- Mix: Blends the dry input signal with the sidechain trigger audio, allowing you to monitor timing or layer rhythmic transients.
- Attack: Controls how quickly the effect engages once the threshold is crossed, from instant snaps to slow fades.
- Decay: Adjusts the time it takes for the audio to return to its original level after the trigger ceases.
- Filter: Band-pass filter that cleans the sidechain signal—controllable via CV—to ensure the module reacts only to specific frequencies like a kick or snare.
Pushbuttons
- SC/INT: Wheter the response is based on the incoming audio itself or on the sidechain audio
- AUDIO / SEQ: Wheter the Sidechain (when SC is selected) is taken from the Sidechain audio input or the Step Sequencer pulse
- DUCK / GATE: Set the mode to ducking or gating
- FILT ON / OFF: Wheter the sidechain audio reacts to the Filter knob or not
